History

The Asia Insurance Directory has its origins in the contact list of a local adjuster. As the list grew in size,a decision was made to transfer the information, first to a database on a single workstation, and then to an intranet. Others, however, soon wanted access to this same information while in the field, and to accommodate their needs, the database was moved to an extranet. Data retrieval, however, proved to be a somewhat difficult task, in that some knowledge of programming was required. To overcome this, a user-friendly interface, along with an administrative panel, was built to facilitate the input of new information, as well as the editing of existing data.

From there, the database took off, quickly becoming an unruly beast, with its information frequently found to be out of date.

To solve this problem, a decision was made to build a separate extranet, allowing companies to input and edit their own contact information. This proved to be a tremendous success, and as the database continued to grow in size, access to the data was soon in demand by the very companies whose names appeared in the database. At that point, and in recognizing the need for a more efficient method of distribution, it was decided to create and launch an entirely new site.

And there you have it. The Asia Insurance Directory was born.

Not-For-Profit

The Directory is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a comprehensive listing of companies and organizations serving the insurance industry in Asia. Although operating on a not-for-profit basis, we do seek to break even at some point and your generous sponsorship will go a long way in helping us to achieve this goal.

Currently under development is a jobs section, allowing both companies and individuals to post jobs and resumes (CVs) free of charge.
